Analysis of China's Goods Export Data
Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce’s Business Data Center indicate that my country's total import and export volume reached US$648.13 billion in May 2026, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%. Of this total, imports amounted to US$271.35 billion (up 27.4% year-on-year), while exports totaled US$376.78 billion (up 19.4% year-on-year).

An analysis of my country's monthly goods export totals from January to May 2026 (see Figure 1) reveals a clear trend of steady strengthening in goods exports. Focusing on May, the total export value reached US$376.78 billion, marking a 19.4% year-on-year increase. Compared to the previous month, exports rose by US$17.34 billion—a growth of approximately 4.8%—surpassing the January peak to set a new high for monthly exports during the first five months of the year. In terms of year-on-year growth rates, the figure for May accelerated by 5.3 percentage points compared to April, signaling further strengthening in the momentum of export expansion. Overall, China's goods exports in May demonstrated outstanding performance in both total volume and growth rate; the macro-level export momentum was robust, with the monthly export scale operating within the high range for the year. --From Huanqiu Huisi
