Caustic Soda Daily Commentary – July 6
Liquid caustic soda prices trended weaker; flake caustic soda prices were weak but stable; futures prices fluctuated at the low end.

The domestic spot market for liquid caustic soda was weak today. Major alumina producers in Shandong lowered their procurement prices for 32% ion-exchange membrane caustic soda starting July 4. Prices in the North China/Shandong region trended downward; sluggish shipments led some producers to make minor price cuts. Prices in East China were stable to weak; the non-alumina sector lacked positive drivers, resulting in mostly on-demand purchasing, while some major producers again lowered their weekly pricing. Demand for liquid chlorine increased, driving prices up, whereas alumina prices saw a slight decline; short-term prices are expected to remain weak.
The domestic flake caustic soda market was weak today. Some producers in Shandong slightly lowered prices for new orders; despite maintenance at some facilities, downstream demand remained sluggish, resulting in slow inventory depletion. Short-term prices are expected to remain stable to weak.
