Soda Ash Daily Commentary – July 9


Spot prices remain stable; futures fluctuate at low levels

 

The domestic soda ash spot market remained stable today. The overall capacity utilization rate for soda ash stood at 79.29% this week, up 1.50% from last week's 77.79%. Domestic production reached 755,200 tonnes, an increase of 14,300 tonnes (1.93%) week-on-week. Total inventory held by domestic manufacturers was 1,747,000 tonnes, down 800 tonnes (0.05%) from Monday; specifically, light soda ash inventory fell by 5,200 tonnes to 1,028,900 tonnes, while heavy soda ash inventory rose by 4,400 tonnes to 718,100 tonnes. Shipment volume totaled 738,200 tonnes, a week-on-week decline of 0.69%, with an overall shipment rate of 97.75%. On the supply side, operating rates recovered this week. Float glass prices remained stable. With soda ash inventories seeing a slight decline, prices are expected to undergo fluctuating adjustments in the short term; market attention remains focused on plant maintenance schedules.
