Calcium hypochlorite is a white granular or powdery inorganic highly oxidizing compound, commonly known as bleaching powder, renowned for its high available chlorine content (usually 60%-75%) and excellent bactericidal and bleaching abilities. It decomposes in water to form hypochlorous acid. Physical properties: White solid with a strong chlorine odor, soluble in water.
It is mainly used for bleaching cotton and linen textiles, chemical fibers, pulp, and starch, as well as for disinfection and sterilization of drinking water and swimming pool water.
