Caustic Soda Daily Commentary – July 10
Liquid caustic soda prices remain relatively stable; flake caustic soda prices hold steady for now; futures prices fluctuate at the low end.
The domestic spot market for liquid caustic soda remained stable today. The average capacity utilization rate among sampled caustic soda enterprises was 79.6% (up 0.4% week-on-week); during the week, four chlor-alkali units underwent maintenance while two resumed operations, and some units reduced operating loads. Factory inventories at sampled enterprises stood at 530,000 tonnes (wet basis), up 6.67% week-on-week and 41.62% year-on-year. Prices in North China showed strength, edging up slightly, while the East China market remained stable as major downstream buyers finalized a new round of orders, resulting in limited market volatility. Regarding liquid chlorine, supply tightened and shipments improved, leading to price increases. Alumina prices remained steady; short-term prices are expected to undergo fluctuating adjustments.
The domestic flake caustic soda market remained stable today. Following earlier price reductions, the market is currently showing "weak stability"; actual transaction prices are below manufacturer quotes, and trading activity has slowed. Short-term prices are expected to remain stable with a downward bias.
