Caustic Soda Daily Commentary – July 20

Liquid caustic soda prices remain relatively stable, while flake caustic soda prices show weakness; futures prices are rebounding from lows.

The domestic spot market for liquid caustic soda remained relatively stable today. In June 2026, China's liquid caustic soda imports totaled 13.9 tonnes (down 71.1% year-on-year and 30.1% month-on-month), while exports reached 218,315.3 tonnes (down 24.9% year-on-year and 30.2% month-on-month). Prices in the Shandong region (North China) held steady; while prices for some high-concentration grades saw minor downward adjustments, mainstream prices for low-concentration grades remained largely unchanged. Prices in East China also remained stable; with new pricing yet to be released for the week, significant fluctuations are not anticipated. Liquid chlorine shipments were satisfactory, with prices remaining stable and seeing only minor upward adjustments in some areas. Alumina prices remained steady for the time being; short-term price trends are expected to involve fluctuating adjustments.
The domestic flake caustic soda market showed weakness today. Some manufacturers in Shandong lowered prices for new orders again, while others have yet to announce new pricing; short-term prices are expected to remain weak.
